"Incoming Frag!" Alyssa yelled as she threw the small grenade behind a line of Elites with energy shields in front of them like a Jackal, and behind those Elites was another line of Elites with Plasma rifles. When the grenade landed, it blew up, the blast taking out the Elite's shields while the shrapnel killed three of the eight Elites. The remaining elites quickly rolled into cover, but not before other elite were shot down.
Standing over Alyssa was Private first class Tim, and on the other side of the doorway that they were guarding was Private first class Kyle and a Spartan in blue armor. All four of them were equipped with Assault Rifles while a soldier further in the room, crouched in front of another door with a torch, was Corporal Wallace Yakat, equipped with a Shotgun.
"Hold them off! Wallace almost has the door!" Alyssa yelled as a squadron of Banshee's flew over them in a hurry, probably to a bigger battle. "Almost have the door! Shut her down!" Wallace yelled. The Spartan then pounded his fist on the door controls, and the heavy doors started to close. Alyssa and Tim stayed in the door way, still firing at the elites as the Spartan and Kyle ran off to Wallace as the door he was trying to open slowly slid open. Once the heavy door was finally closed, Alyssa and Tim jogged over to Wallace.
When the door fully opened, the first one to step in was the Spartan, whatever his name was. As he stepped in, Alyssa stuck her head in, and smiled. The room looked to be about three stories tall, and with all the stair ways going around it, it made for an easy area to get vantage points from up above. "Let's move." The Spartan commanded, and then walked in.
Alyssa wished that they were actually staying here, or that they'd make use of the vantage points at least once against the traitorous covenant bastards. The Elites and UNSC were at war with the humans on the planet Asphodel.
The planet was, in peace negotiations, given to the Elites, otherwise known as Sangheli, as a sign of good faith. The Sangheli told what was left of the human colonies that they can keep their colony on Asphodel to show that they can make peace while living on the same planet. What we didn't know, though, was that wasn't the case.
As soon as we agreed, it was all over.
The elite came in with half their fleet, and destroyed everything that was above Asphodel while killing anyone trying to leave. Then they launched the Phantoms and spirits, being guarded by the Banshee's, to take the ground. What little forces the UNSC had on the ground tried to make a final stand here, at the capitol of Garltz, to hopefully hold them off.
They hoped to use the Falcons and the few longswords they had left to keep the air and to try and keep the outskirts of the city theirs. Setting up AA towers along the outer parts of the town and a couple of AA gun's in random parts of the city. They managed to hold off the Covenant for two weeks, and tried calling the rest of the UNSC army for support, but none of their call's got through.
They eventually lost the Northern part of their defense's, and soon it seemed like the army just got scattered at random parts of the city, losing. Fighting back to win against the covenant was out of the question. Now all they can do is to try and survive.
That is why Alyssa, Tim, Kyle, Wallace, and the Spartan is here. Not to make a final stand, but to find Warthogs to get out of the city. That is their final hope, to find at least one warthog and make it out of the city. Once they escape the city, their plan is to hide in the wastelands until the UNSC arrives with reinforcements.
Once they all entered the room, Kyle walked over to a door that was off to the side, and pressed a button to the side. The door slid open, revealing a staircase leading down. "Found it." Kyle yelled back at his squad as Wallace closed and locked the door that they just entered from. Kyle was the first one that entered the staircase, pointing his shotgun down the stairway, and then the Spartan came running down second. Alyssa was next and then Tim, who closed the door behind them.
As they all descended the stairway, Tim thought of his family that was hopefully still hidden and alive, Kyle was thinking about where they would go once they were out of the city, Alyssa was wondering what type of defense's the Covenant would have at the city borders, Wallace was pondering what the best vehicle would be, and the Spartan wasn't thinking about anything except how to beat the Sangheli, driving them off Asphodel.
Their best hope would be that the UNSC will catch wind of what's happening here and send help. Once Wallace reached the end of the stairway, where a door was, Wallace went to the side of the door, and readied himself for a possible firefight. The Spartan, keeping the rifle pointed at the door with one hand, opened the door with his free hand.
Alyssa, Tim, and Kyle all prepared their Assault Rifles, and then pointed their rifles towards the door. As the door opened, the Spartan ducked underneath, ready to fire. On the other side of the door no Elites appeared, but what was there was two Warthogs, one a Gauss warthog while the other is a rocket hog. As the five of them walked into the room, the Spartan yelled, "Alright, we're gonna split up! Wallace, you're with me in the Gauss hog, so get in that turret." The Spartan pointed at Alyssa, Kyle, and Tim, continuing. "You three will go in the rocket warthog. Me and Wallace will take the lead, and the rest of you,"
The Spartan reloaded his gun, and once he finished, he finished his sentence. "Just follow us."

Tim steered the Rocket hog around a destroyed tank, following close behind the Spartan and Wallace. Alyssa, sitting in the passenger seat, yelled, "Look out! Banshee's incoming!" Kyle spun the rocket turret around, aiming it at two incoming Banshee's trying to approach them from behind. Kyle locked unto one of the Banshee's, and then fired. Multiple rockets flew out of the turret, heading towards the Banshee closest to them.
The Banshee barrel rolled to its left, but the rocket's still followed it, and hit it on its side. The Banshee exploded into purple flames, the debris falling unto the road behind them as the other Banshee started to fire its laser cannon. Wallace turned his Gauss turret around, and fired it two times. The Banshee's left wing was blown off with the first blast, and then disappeared in purple flames as it was hit right in the middle where the cockpit was.
Wallace smiled, and then turned back around towards the front, seeing no enemy resistance against them. "We're almost to the borders, everyone. I can already smell the sweet smell of freedom." Tim said over the radio. Alyssa knew that, even if they escaped the city, they weren't free. They will more than likely be chased down by the Covenant, but at least they'll be able to find a better hiding spot than they could in the city. Well, at least hopefully they could.
Not even a minute later, all the plasma screens came to life, an image of an orange elite officer looking straight at the camera, and then, in perfect English, said, "Humans, I am the second in command of the elite army. My name is See'lak, and our glorious leader, the Arbiter, has given you all one chance to surrender and join us. If you do, we will not kill you, and we will let you all live peacefully. This is your only chance to surrender, so I suggest you take it."
Kyle flicked the screen off, but then brought his hand back to the turret as they entered a tunnel. "Damn Elites. What do they expect us to do? We fight back, we'll die, but if we don't, then we'll probably become their slaves. I say we fight back, at least die with a little dignity, and I doubt they'll actually let us live, even if we do surrender."
"Heads up, guy's. I have something on my radar, something big." Alyssa was about to ask what it was, but before she could utter a word in, the Spartan continued to talk. "No, wait, make that two things. No, three… four… Over seven already!" As they exited the tunnel, all of them almost gave up hope. All along the borders of the city where Scarabs, and while their turrets on the top started to fire at them, their laser cannon that was the head started to charge up.
"SHIT! TAKE EVASIVE MANEUVERS!" The Spartan yelled into his head set. "IF WE MANAGE TO DRIVE AROUND THE TURRETS FIRE AND THEIR LASER CANNON, THEN WE ARE HOME FREE!" Alyssa hopes that was true. She knows that the Elites won't give up easily, and even though they have to try and keep everyone that surrendered busy and under watch, they will have more than enough forces to go after them.
The Scarabs fired their guns, trying to hit the two warthogs, but they were out of the turn and is now in open space, allowing them, to freely move their warthogs around the scarab's beam. In a minute, the two warthog's drove past the Scarabs, Kyle screaming in triumph.
"HELL YEAH! I knew we'd make it!" Tim yelled, pumping his right hand in the air. "Cool your jets down, Marine. We've still got a long way to go before we're safe." Wallace yawned, and then replied, "Whatever, Spartan. Once we find our hiding spot, it will be clear skies until the UNSC comes." The Spartan didn't say anything, and stayed quite.

"FUCK BISCUIT'S!" Tim yelled as a purple explosion almost hit the rocket hog. Behind them, five Revenants were gaining on them, the drivers shooting the cannons while the ones in the passenger seats were firing fuel rod guns.
The five survivors were traveling along the edge of a cliff when the Revenants came, and so far the Revenants have kept them from getting away from the edge. Wallace fired his rocket turret one last time, killing an Elite in a passenger seat, before the Revenants managed to get a few lucky shots in, the explosions sending the two warthogs over the cliff. Alyssa fell out of her seat, plummeting towards the ground like everyone else.
She looked at the ground as it was coming closer and closer. She didn't regret much, except that she couldn't actually complete her dreams, like starting a family or being able to live long enough to see the end of her military career. 'Oh well,' She thought, and then, as the distance between her and the ground ceased to exist, she finished her thought. 'At least I'm dying as a free human, and not as a Sangheli slave.'

The Spartan groaned as he came to, his entire body aching from head to toe. "Well, that wasn't any fun." He murmured as he shook his head. It took him a few seconds, but he finally managed to stand up, his legs wobbly underneath him.
"S-Spartan," The Spartan looked towards the sound of the familiar female voice, and, next to a burning warthog that had Kyle's and Tim's dead body around it, laid Alyssa, her legs bent in directions that isn't natural, and sticking out of the side of her stomach was a part of the warthog. "Oh my lord." The Spartan walked towards Alyssa, his legs in the most terrible pain he has ever felt.
When he reached Alyssa, he sat down next to her. Reaching up, he took off Alyssa's helmet, revealing her short, blonde hair. "Listen to me, Spartan. Before you awoke, I…" Alyssa coughed out blood, but then immediately continued. "I heard a message from a AI who calls herself 'Hope'. She sent out a signal saying that… that there is one last hope to defeat the Sangheli, and that… that…" She smiled, saying, "that there is a fore runner device made to destroy all sentient species on this planet that isn't human. The transmission was cut off before… before I received the coordinates, but… but I'm sure that you can find it. Please, just for my sake, tell me your name."
The Spartan looked up at the sky, and then replied, "Max. My name is Max." Alyssa looked up at the sky as well, the star's looking beautiful tonight. "I am happy that I'm dying with the honor of… of getting past the blockade that the Sangheli put up, and getting as far as we did."
Then she stayed quite. They both stayed like this for a hour, and at some point, which Max doesn't know when, Alyssa stopped breathing, the last of her life leaving her body. Max stood up, groaning loudly. He had to get moving, he knew he had to.
The Sangheli just declared war, and Max was going to give it to them.

Max recalled that memory that was too years ago, two long years ago. A lot has changed since then. The humans that joined the Sangheli are now part of their army, and for those who are alive and are trying to survive, they call those in the Sangheli army Crazies. Why? Max doesn't know why, but someone called them that, and it just caught on.
The planet was divided into small sections, each having an Over lord, which is always a Sangheli. They have command of their own private army, and even though there seems to be little hope that the UNSC will ever catch on to the Sangheli's lies and help them, and what little remains of the survivors are scattered, trying to find some hole to hide in. Max, on the other hand, is bringing the fight to them. In the last two years, Max has been able to fight against five sections and has been able to kill many of their soldiers and vehicles while also destroying major buildings like supply depots and factories that make their weapons and vehicles, and each time he has been able to kill the over lords. Now Max is in the Galferty section, who is controlled by an Over lord called Tarwe.
This area has many canyons that Max will need to travel through, and Tarwe's men are known for their snipers. Max does know where he is going now, though. In the last section, he received the coordinates to the super weapon rumored to be able to kill everything except for the humans, and now is headed towards it. They asked for a fight, and Max is giving them a run for their money.
